How to enable game mode or Disable Game Mode in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update from Registry

You can enable or disable Game Mode in Windows Fall Creators Update using Windows registry.

1. Open the Windows registry (Win+R, type regedit and click OK)

2. Navigate to the following path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\GameBar

Step 3. Find “AllowAutoGameMode”

Note: If the AllowAutoGameMode key is missing you have to create it.

Step 4. Right-click inside the right panel, New>DWORD (32-bit) Value and rename the new value “AllowAutoGameMode”.

Step 5. To enable Game Mode, set the value to 1. To disable Game Mode in Windows 10 Creators Update, change the value to 0.

How to enable Game Mode for any game on Windows 10

After turning on Game Mode in the system settings, you can turn it on for any game you wish to play. To turn on Game Mode for your favorite game, follow these steps:
  1. Launch the game you want to play. Windows 10 will prompt you to open Game bar using Windows key + G combination. If it doesn’t pop up then, the game doesn’t support this feature.
  2. Press Windows key + G, or hit the Xbox button on your gamepad.
  3. Click the Settings icon to the extreme right on the Game bar.
  4. In the dialog box that opens, check the box for Use Game Mode for this game.
