Change the default Installation Directory in Windows

When the Operating system (OS) is installed on a particular drive all the programs get installed in the default directory  "C:\Program Files" if OS in on C drive . Many times while installation one need to change the installation path manually due to number of reasons ," low disk space" one of the most common reason and many other reasons .Instead of changing the path each time for installation one can easily set the desired path replacing the default path by simple registry tricks show bellow 

  1. Open Registry Editor.

(go to , run ==> regedit ,and enter to launch registry editor for all windows or just search for "registry" in Windows 7 /8)

2. Navigate to    

3. On the right side pane, 
                Right click on "ProgramFilesDir" and choose "Modify".

4. Replace  
                  Default C:\Program Files  with the new installation path e.g. D:\my program in the                
                  "Value Data

5.  Click on "OK". and exit the Registry Editor
6.   Reboot the system for the change to take effect.
