Make Your Own Folder Icons in Windows 10

Each time you create a new folder in Microsoft Windows 7, the operating system displays a generic folder icon. If you want to customize your folders, however, Windows 7 allows you to change the icon that is displayed on your screen. To make a new folder icon, you must create an ICO file. ICO is the standard icon format in Windows and can be created in Microsoft Paint. Depending on your preference, you can create a new icon file from an existing picture on your computer or create a new icon image from scratch.


Create an Icon



Open Microsoft Paint, located in the Windows "Accessories" folder.



Click the "Paint" tab, select "Open" and import the image you want to use for your icon. If you want to create a new design, use the brushes, color palette and shapes to create a design on the blank canvas.


Click the "Paint" tab after you import your image or create your new custom design, highlight 

the "Save As" option and select "BMP picture."


Enter a new name for your image and type ".ico" at the end. Your new file should appear as "youriconname.ico."


Select the folder you want to use to store your new icon image, and then click the "Save" button.

Change folder icon in windows 10

Their is a simple way by which one can change the folder icon. One can easily change default icon to more meaningful icon to reflect the folder such that one can know what data is present in the folder. For example , a folder containing movies can be assigned a video camera icon, for folder containing images digital camera icon , for document folder document icon etc. By assigning icons one can easily distinguish a particular folder of interest by eye catchy beautiful icons. Some of the icons are shown below

 To change default folder icon perform the following steps:

  1. Select the file or folder that you want to change.
  2. Right click on folder ->Properties. The properties window for the is displayed. Click Close to close the properties dialog 

    3. Click on "Customize" and click on "Change Icon"
    4. Select any suitable icon and click "OK"

     5. After completing all steps the folder icon will change

NOTE : For reverting back to default folder icon press  "Restore Defaults "

TURBO C ++ ,DIRECT FULL SCREEN ON WINDOWS 7 AND 8 and 10


1. Download new TURBO C++ (CLICK TO DOWNLOAD) or Download (TC ++ for 32 and 64 bit)
2. Extract the content using "WINRAR" or "7-ZIP"
3. Double click on "Setup_TurboC_7_v2.0.exe"
4. Click "Next"
5. Click on "Create a desktop icon"
6. Click "Install" and "Finish ' to complete installation
7.Click on "TurboC 7" icon on the desktop to run TurboC 7 in full-screen mode.

Change the default Installation Directory in Windows

When the Operating system (OS) is installed on a particular drive all the programs get installed in the default directory  "C:\Program Files" if OS in on C drive . Many times while installation one need to change the installation path manually due to number of reasons ," low disk space" one of the most common reason and many other reasons .Instead of changing the path each time for installation one can easily set the desired path replacing the default path by simple registry tricks show bellow 


  1. Open Registry Editor.

(go to , run ==> regedit ,and enter to launch registry editor for all windows or just search for "registry" in Windows 7 /8)



2. Navigate to    
                HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

3. On the right side pane, 
                Right click on "ProgramFilesDir" and choose "Modify".



4. Replace  
                  Default C:\Program Files  with the new installation path e.g. D:\my program in the                
                  "Value Data



5.  Click on "OK". and exit the Registry Editor
6.   Reboot the system for the change to take effect.
